Methi tovve (dal)


   
  Ingredients - Serves around 4 people         

  Toor dal 1 cup
  Methi leaves 2 small bunches (washed & cut)
  Tomato 1 big one

  Red chilli powder 1/2 to 1 tsp
  Tamarind marble size (soaked in water & squeezed)
  Mustard 1/2 tsp
  Hing 2 pinch
  Turmeric 1/4 tsp
  Oil 2-3 tsp
  Jaggery 2 small pieces
  Salt to taste
 
Procedure
  • Cook toor dal in pressure cooker. 
  • Heat oil in kadai. Add mustard.Allow to splutter.
  • Add hing, turmeric and methi leaves. Fry a little. 
  • Add chopped tomato, jaggery and a little salt. Fry until softened. 
  • Add cooked dal, red chilli powder, tamarind juice and salt. Mix well.
  • Bring it to boil by adding little water if necessary. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
  • Serve with chapati, etc.
